Hi! I’m Chris Moss and I am a Generational Bridge Builder, and the founder of Mentor Prep Academy. I am honored to have you here!
I’ve been a mentor since 2001, so I started mentoring GenX moms around the MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) table. They matured out, and the Millennials have joined around the table. Soon, Generation Z will join the adults at the table. In book clubs (digital, of course!), meet-ups, and workplaces and eventually in parenthood.
When I started, I was a broken hearted empty nester. I knew I had a lot of love left to give, but my kids didn’t need it all anymore. In fact, I was smothering them. So many tears.
When I was invited to mentor, I reluctantly agreed.
Then I panicked.
“I have nothing to offer a younger woman! I am older and less pretty, I have rolls where things used to be flat. I see wrinkles in the mirror. Where I once was a 36 B, I am now a 36 Long. I had been married, divorced and remarried. I was struggling with my empty nest. My husband was busy 13 hours a day at his new job. I was lonely. Oh please, God, don’t make me go into a room full of younger, prettier people. I’m not qualified, or godly, and I have nothing to offer them!”
But I went to the first meeting. I arrived early and plugged in the coffee pots.
The first minivans roll in as the coffee finished brewing.
I was their immediate hero!
I discovered that day, that young women love having mentors! The presence of an older woman grounds them.
And I felt more grounded too!
Through the better part of two decades, I have learned a lot about mentoring younger generations. I’ve had some successes and failures. But more than that, I’ve learned that God has a lot to say about mentoring. Most of our culture just is simply too busy to pay attention.
I’d like to raise an elite group of trained mature women to build bridges for all our generations. My vision is to mentor intentionally with this team of special women to be certain God has an impact on our children and grandchildren. Want to be part of that team of special Bridge Builders?
If you find yourself in a season of life change, with some extra love and no place to put it, you’re in the right place! Everything you learn about being a mentor helps with your own kids and grandkids too! As older women, we still have the opportunity to change our world! I invite YOU to build a bridge with me at Mentor Prep Academy.
